Sr. Research Associate / Scientist – Cell Therapy



Serotiny invents multi-domain proteins for gene and cell therapies including genome editors, and chimeric antigen receptors (CARs). Our infrastructure is a design/build/test loop that couples a finely tuned software architecture with wet-lab mammalian synthetic biology to engineer and characterize massive libraries of candidates. These novel synthetic proteins are central to cutting edge therapeutics, providing enhanced efficacy and safety through advanced control methods and engineered functionalities.

Serotiny is looking for a Sr. Research Associate / Scientist who is excited to work closely with a team of immunologists and molecular biologists to build and deploy Serotiny's high-throughput C&GT methods.


  • Independently design, conduct, and interpret experiments that screen CAR constructs based on their function
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory work to evaluate Serotiny’s libraries in primary cells
  • Work collaboratively with other Laboratory team members on cell engineering, gene engineering, cell biology and molecular biology projects
  • Maintain outstanding electronic lab notebook records
  • Collaborate with software engineers, bioinformaticians and platform engineers to develop protein design and evaluation methodologies
  • Participate in team meetings and provide regular oral and written communication on all projects and milestones


  • Degree in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology or related area
    • SRA: BSc. with >4 years of experience, or MSc. with >1 year of industry or other relevant experience
    • Scientist: BSc. with >6 years of experience, or MSc. with >3 years of experience, or PhD. with 0-1 years of industry or other relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience with synthetic proteins relevant to immunotherapies (ie, CARs)
  • Familiarity with Cell Therapy workflows: Primary cell isolation, activation, transduction and cryopreservation
  • Direct experience with functional in vitro assays for characterization of T cell function (cytotoxicity, proliferation, cytokine release)
  • Experience with immunostaining methods, flow cytometry, FACS, ELISA
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
