Data Scientist / Bioinformatics Scientist - Next Generation Sequencing + Discovery



Serotiny invents multi-domain proteins for gene and cell therapies including genome editors and chimeric antigen receptors. These novel synthetic proteins are central to cutting edge therapeutics, providing enhanced safety and efficacy through advanced control methods and engineered functionalities. We couple synthetic biology with machine learning to generate large-scale protein libraries for high-throughput screening.

Serotiny is looking for a Data Scientist / Bioinformatics Scientist to work within a cross functional team of protein engineers, cell biologists, and software engineers to build out and deploy Serotiny's high-throughput methods.


  • Independently scope, develop, and implement algorithms for multi domain protein discovery and characterization
  • Collaborate with cross functional team to analyze NGS data from cell-based CAR-T and gene editing assays
  • Write clear and well documented code in a collaborative environment
  • Scale data pipelines from proof of concept to production ready
  • Participate in team meetings and provide regular written communication on all projects and milestones


  • Experience with bioinformatics algorithm development in the field of gene editing or NGS
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Python
  • Additionally, familiarity/experience with NLP, PyTorch, Docker, NextFlow, and AWS will be well regarded
  • Knowledge of protein biochemistry, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, FACS, or gene editing technologies
  • Familiarity with software development practices like as unit testing, code reviews, and git
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US
